Overview
Sports Lifestyle in Culture, a.k.a. SLiC, is a platform designed to empower the next generation of creative entrepreneurs. Working with two-time NBA All-Star Baron Davis, I helped create a content management platform and creation studio—designed by creators, for creators.
The platform enables creators to connect with brands to make collaborative video, social media, and NFT content, all while being able to monitor their revenue streams. An Apple TV app, mobile app, and web marketplace were designed to connect this creator ecosystem.

Takeaways
Content management for creators
A highly collaborative process, the SLiC app empowers creators to partner with brands and publishers for paid content opportunities. Not only can creators stick to what they do best while monetizing, they can also enjoy exclusive discussions within SLiC’s creator network. SLiC ID includes a Web3 aspect where digital content is protected and stored in a database for creators to license in the future.

2.
Bringing video content to TV audiences
In effort to decentralize video content, SLiC.tv was created to give smaller distributors the opportunity to reach their fans. Designed to give creators freedom to innovate, SLiC’s video infrastructure supports live and on-demand streaming.

3.
Creating Web3 and NFT platform to support athletes
With founder Baron Davis having his background in the NBA, he conceived the idea to help fellow basketball players preserve their legacies. The goal is to build a digital Hall of Fame for basketball storytelling. SLiC, as a production entity, creates NFT assets for these players that are stored into a museum database. This includes awards, playing cards, and memorabilia that live in a virtual metaverse environment.

“Let’s make Web3 and NFTs simple for our community.”
Baron Davis, SLiC Founder
4.
Modeling scalable software architecture
We built a technical stack by focusing on two important metrics: flexibility and speed. That meant breaking apart the existing monolithic architecture and optimizing load times for images and videos across all breakpoints.
